FIRST QUARTER

Eagles win the coin toss and elect to defer. Washington receives first.

Jake Elliott’s opening kickoff goes for a touchback. Jalen Mills and Patrick Robinson (not Rasul Douglas) get the start on the outside in base defense. Washington picks up a big gain through the air from Kirk Cousins to Vernon Davis. Jordan Hicks, who entered the game injured, gets hurt two plays into the game. That hurts with Mychal Kendricks already out. Joe Walker in for Hicks. Washington moves into the red zone. 3rd-and-8 at the 15-yard line. Cousins’ throw is short of the sticks. Washington settles for a field goal. Washington leads, 3-0.

Eagles take over on offense. Wendell Smallwood gets the start at running back. Carson Wentz’s first target goes to Alshon Jeffery. The catch gets called back due to offensive pass interference. Really weak call. Then a Smallwood run gets called due to a block in the back. Then a Wentz scramble gets called back due to holding. Then the Eagles gets flagged for 12-men in the huddle. What the hell, did Pete Morelli show up to this game? Eagles fans are pissed. Lots of booing. Wentz throws deep and gets picked off. His throw for Torrey Smith was way off. Basically an arm punt.

Washington gets to 3rd-and-2 on their next series. Nigel Bradham blitzes and hits Cousins as he throws. The ball flies up into the air. Lucky to not be picked off.

Washington punts and gets called for holding. Doug Pederson makes Washington re-do the punt and Kenjon Barner breaks off a 22-yard return. The penalty ended up costing Washington 32 yards.

Eagles take over at their own 45-yard line. Wentz’s pass to Brent Celek is knocked down by Quinton Dunbar. Barner runs for a very shot gain. Wentz is sacked on third down by Ryan Kerrigan. Three-and-out. Here’s an idea: how about plays that don’t go to some of the team’s least threatening offensive players?

Jamison Crowder fumbles the punt return (forced by Kamu Grugier-Hill) and Washington is very lucky to recover at their own 7-yard line.

Washington moves the ball towards midfield but Derek Barnett sacks Cousins on 3rd-and-2 to force a punt. Nice job by the rook, who celebrated with a crossover into a between the legs dribble before taking a shot. Probably honoring the Sixers.

Eagles take over deep in their own territory due to a holding penalty on the punt. Wentz hits Jeffery on third down to move the chains. Wentz scrambles for 11 yards and the Eagles get an additional 15-yards due to a facemask penalty on Washington. Who knew the other team was allowed to get flagged?

SECOND QUARTER

Wentz gets facemasked again. Another 15 yards. Then Wentz takes a bad sack for a loss of 10. Had room to scramble right, but tried to cut back inside and make the defender miss. Not great. Nelson Agholor makes a catch to put the Eagles into field goal range but short of the sticks. (No call on a late hit on Agholor as the receiver was out of bounds.) Jake Elliott’s 50-yard field goal is ... good. Was there any doubt? Tie game, 3-3.

Vinny Curry loses backside contain and Cousins scrambles for a first. Then the Washington QB hits Josh Doctson and Vernon Davis on back-to-back plays to move into the red zone. Cousins getting too much time in the pocket. Plus awful tackling after the catch. Washington right tackle Morgan Moses gets hurt and has to leave the field. T.J. Clemmings in at right tackle. Eagles get flagged for illegal hands to the first. 1st-and-goal for Washington. Cousins hits a wide open Chris Thompson for an easy touchdown. No one even bothered to cover him. Barnett thought he got held bad on the play and argued with the refs to no avail. Washington leads, 10-3.

Eagles take back over. Wentz’s deep throw to Jeffery is a little too far in front. Turns out that Jeffery was getting held multiple times on the play, but no call. Really bad job by the refs. Jon Gruden thought it was a good no-call, lol. Eagles go three-and-out again.

Malcolm Jenkins makes a good stop on 3rd-and-1. Washington has to punt.

Eagles take over and get a first down thanks to some runs from Smallwood. Wentz takes another sack where he holds the ball for too long. Then Wentz holds the ball long again ... but it’s a 64-YARD TOUCHDOWN! Perfect deep ball to Mack Hollins. What a throw. All the air yards. Hollins has been great for the Eagles this year, man. Constantly making the most of his snaps. Get the man some more playing time. Tie game, 10-10.

Philadelphia’s defense forces a stop on and the Eagles get the ball back with under two minutes to go.

Here’s a great thing unrelated to the game: Jon Dorenbos makes an appearance at the Linc! Standing ovation from the fans. Great to see him.

Wentz scrambles for a decent gain and a defensive penalty adds five yards. Then Wentz hits Ertz on a ROPE down the field for a 46-yard gain into the red zone. Wow. What a throw. A penalty from Jason Kelce sets the Eagles back a little, but the Eagles get to the 1-yard line after a fade throw to Jeffery draws pass interference. LeGarrette Blount’s carry goes for a 3-yard loss. Then Wentz hits Ertz on a quick out for a touchdown! Ertz broke a tackle from Swearinger and got in to the end zone. Clutch. Eagles lead, 17-10.

Washington kneels to end the first half.

THIRD QUARTER

Eagles get the ball to start the third.

Wentz hits Agholor along the sideline, great throw. Jason Peters is down after the play. Oh no. He’s in pain. The entire team comes out to the field to see him before he gets carted off. Eagles fans chant “Let’s Go Peters!” as he leaves the field.

Halapoulivaati Vaitai takes over at left tackle with Lane Johnson staying on the right ride. Wentz takes off for a 21-yard gain. Then he hitz Ertz over the middle to get the Eagles at Washington’s 6-yard line. Vaitai jumps early and a false start pushes the Eagles back. No matter. Wentz somehow avoids pressure and floats a pass up to Corey Clement (!) in the end zone. The running back keeps his feet in for touchdown. What an unreal play. How did Wentz do that? The guy is unreal. He’s the NFL MVP. All his haters gotta take a HUGE L for being so down on him. Eagles lead, 24-10.

Washington can’t get much going on their next drive. They move the ball a little before having to punt.

Nothing going for the Eagles either. Too conservative. Philly has to send out Donnie Jones to punt.

Cousins scrambles on 3rd-and-long and picks up a first. It looked like he was short and it should’ve been 4th-and-1. Bad spot from the refs. Probably should have challegned that, Doug. Jenkins sacks Cousins on second down, but Cousins slings it for a first down at the 5-yard line. Cousins hits Jordan Reed for a touchdown. C’mon, D. Eagles lead, 24-17.

FOURTH QUARTER

Wentz is literally doing things that I don’t even know how to describe at this point. It looked like he was going to get sacked in a pile ... but he somehow escapes and run for a big gain. Then Clement picks up a first. Then Wentz hits Jeffery on a perfect touch pass. Then Wentz hits Ertz on a run-pass option for a first. Then Wentz hits Agholor for a TOUCHDOWN. Holy shitttttt maannnnn. Eagles fans at the Linc chanting “M-V-P!” after that score. Eagles lead, 31-17.

Cox sacks Cousins to bring up 2nd-and-17. Washington gets some yards back on a Thompson screen. But then Kurt Cousins throws a pick right to Corey Graham. Womp womp.

Eagles pound the rock to run some clock and settle for a 42-yard Elliott field goal. Philly takes a three-possession lead with 6:19 remaining in the game. Eagles lead, 34-17.

Washington drives down the field and scores a touchdown. Cousins to Reed. Ugly tackling on the drive. Eagles lead, 34-24.

Washington goes for the onside kick but Ertz recovers it. Eagles take over at the 50-yard line with 3:16 left. Clement takes the hand-off and fumbles ... geez. Very fortunate to recover. First Washington timeout. Then Blount runs up the middle for a 21-yard gain. Beast. Great blocking, too. 4-yard Blount carry to take it to the 2-minute warning. Blount takes it for three yards. Second Washington timeout. Blount stopped for a 1-yard loss on third down. Third Washington timeout with 1:50 remaining. Elliott misses a 45-yard field goal ... GASP!

Barnett sacks Cousins for his second takedown of the night. Washington loses yards on 2nd down. Thompson picks some up on third, but not enough for a first. THEN COUPONS THROWS IT OUT OF BOUNDS ON 4TH DOWN! Lmao. The game was over, sure, but he didn’t even give his team a chance.

Eagles take over. VICTORY FORMATION.

FINAL SCORE

Eagles win, 34-24!
