The 2018 NFL Draft will NOT be held in Philadelphia. NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports the host site of next year’s event will be Dallas, Texas. The NFL has since officially confirmed the news.

Well, sort of. The 2018 NFL Draft will be hosted at the Cowboys’ home field — AT&T Stadium — which is actually located 20 minutes west of Dallas in Arlington, Texas. Close enough, I guess.

There was thought the NFL Draft might be coming back to Philly for the second year in a row after the city did such a good job of hosting the 2017 NFL Draft. I wrote about the experience earlier this year.

The numbers speak for themselves. A record-breaking crowd of 250,000 — one quarter of a million! — people. Exactly ZERO arrests. Yes, you read that corectly. ZERO!

The atmosphere was awesome and energetic. The weather was beautiful. There were no shortage of entertainment options for the fans.

There’s little question Philadelphia raised the bar in terms of hosting the draft. Now it’ll be up to Jerry Jones and the evil empire to show what they can do.

One silver lining to the 2018 NFL Draft being hosted in Dallas: the Eagles can potentially have their own version of a Drew Pearson moment. Wouldn’t it be great to see Brian Dawkins up on stage taunting a ton of Cowboys fans?
