Giants hurt chances of landing No. 1 overall draft pick by beating Broncos

The New York Giants are no longer winless.

The G-Men defeated the Denver Broncos in a big upset on Sunday Night Football by a final score of 23 to 10. New York is now 1-5 on the season.

On one hand, this is a quality win for the Giants. They were 14-point underdogs heading into this game. No one thought they could win; especially after having the makings of a dumpster fire team.

On another hand, a Giants win here doesn’t do much other than to hurt their chances at landing the No. 1 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. The winless Cleveland Browns and San Francisco are now in better position for that.

Beating an AFC team does nothing to change that the Giants are still winless in the conference and the division. They’d still have so much work to do in order to truly save their season. And they won’t have Odell Beckham Jr. around to help.

Here’s an updated look at the NFC East standings.

NFC EAST STANDINGS

1 - Philadelphia Eagles: 5-1 | Conference: 4-0 | Division: 2-0

2 - Washington Redskins: 3-2 | Conference: 2-1 | Division: 0-1

3 - Dallas Cowboys: 2-3 | Conference: 2-2 | Division: 1-0

4 - New York Giants: 1-5 | Conference: 0-4 | Division: 0-2

If anything, this game should have the Eagles feeling a little better about their Week 9 matchup with the Broncos in Philadelphia. Denver did not look very good on Sunday night.
