NFL: Philadelphia Eagles at Carolina Panthers Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

After blowing out the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles are back in action just a few days later on Thursday night. The Birds are on the road to face the 4-1 Carolina Panthers.

The Panthers have sort of had a weird season so far. They blew out a 49ers team that still hasn’t won a game. Then they only scored nine points in a win over the Bills. In Week 3, the Panthers lost the Saints ... by 21 points ... at home. Since that loss, the Panthers have gone on to beat the Patriots and the Lions in close games on the road.

So the Panthers definitely aren’t bad. But just how good are they? That’s a question people could be asking about the Eagles as well. Both teams have a lot to prove tonight.

Carolina’s offense is led by 2015 NFL MVP Cam Newton. The Eagles’ defense will be tested by Newton’s ability to sling the ball around the field and make plays with his legs as well.

The Panthers’ defense will also be tested by a talented quarterback. Carson Wentz is playing some of the best football of his career over the past two weeks. Philly will need another big game from his arm while going up against a tough Panthers unit that doesn’t allow a lot of rushing yards.

The bad news for the Eagles is they’ll be without starting right tackle Lane Johnson. Starting defensive tackle Fletcher Cox is also questionable. This is a tough road spot for the Birds.

How the Eagles respond will tell us a lot about this team. It’s a big matchup, so sit back and enjoy the ride. And by that I mean get ready to be on the edge of your seats for a nail-biter in overtime.

Here's everything you need to know about how to watch the game.
