Carson Wentz nominated for weekly award you can vote on

Vote for Carson.

NFL: Arizona Cardinals at Philadelphia Eagles Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz has been nominated for one of the NFL’s weekly awards for his performance against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5.

Wentz is one of three players eligible to win the “Fedex Air Player of the Week” award. The other two quarterbacks he’s going up against: Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith. You can [click here] to vote for Wentz.

Here’s a look at how they all performed stat-wise.

Carson Wentz: 21/30 (70%), 304 yards (10.1 average), 4 TD, 1 INT, 128.3 passer rating

Cam Newton: 26/33 (78.8%), 355 yards (10.8 average), 3 TD, 0 INT, 141.8 passer rating

Alex Smith: 29/37 (78.4%), 325 yards (8.8 average), 3 TD, 0 INT, 130.2 passer rating

Based on statistics alone, Wentz doesn’t have the strongest case of the three. That would go to the quarterback of the Eagles’ Week 6 opponent: Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers.

Both Wentz and Newton have been playing really well in recent weeks. Thursday night has the potential to be a great battle between the two quarterbacks.
