Carson Wentz is the first NFL Rookie of the Week of 2016

The wonder boy has done it again!

James Lang-USA TODAY Sports

There weren't many other options, so it was kind of a foregone conclusion, but now it's official: Carson Wentz was named the NFL's Pepsi Rookie of the Week for his Week 1 performance against the Browns.

Wentz, as you may or may not have heard, went 22 for 37, 278 yards and two touchdowns in his sterling debut against a woeful Cleveland Browns squad. It was one of the finest rookie quarterbacking performances in Eagles franchise history.

Wentz ran away from the field, nabbing over 50 percent of the vote. There wasn't much competition. He was kind of awesome.

Here's who else was nominated:

WR Will Fuller, Houston Texans: Fuller caught five passes for 107 yards and a touchdown in a 23-14 win over the Chicago Bears.

WR Sterling Shepard, New York Giants: Shepard caught three passes for 43 yards and one touchdown in a 20-19 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

WR Tajae Sharpe, Tennessee Titans: Sharpe led the team with seven receptions for 76 yards and five first-down conversions against the Minnesota Vikings.

DE Carl Nassib, Cleveland Browns: Nassib recorded three tackles, one sack and one pass defensed against the Eagles.
