Eagles head coach Doug Pederson spoke after Monday's training camp practice and gave an update on the team's injury situation. The biggest news regards the status of the team's top receiver.
"Jordan Matthews is still a couple weeks away from being back, "Pederson said." We want to make sure he's completely, with that knee, completely healthy. Hopefully, tentatively, [he will be ready for] that Colts, that third preseason [game] ... if not, then regular season."
Matthews suffered the injury during practice last week when rookie cornerback Jalen Mills hit Matthews low after the receiver made a screen catch. It looked like it could have been really bad, but shortly after practice Pederson said Matthews would be "fine" and "sore for a couple of days."
Pederson went into further detail about Matthews' injury on Monday.
"It's that left knee," Pederson explained. "Just a strain. When Jalen hit him the other day, there was no damage. There was no structural damage to the knee. It's just sore. We have to make sure it's healthy and [that] he's feeling good when he gets out here."
So is there a chance this injury could linger into the regular season?
"I don't think so," Pederson said. "I don't think so. I think it's just something that's a couple weeks away."
For the Eagles' sake, Pederson better be right. Matthews is not only one of the team's best receivers but also one of their best offensive talents in general.
UPDATE: More information on Matthews via Les Bowen.
I'm hearing bone bruise for Jordan Matthews, 2 to 4 weeks. Mychal Kendricks is getting hammy MRI but only because of tightness, seems minor.

Day-to-day. Pederson said he fully expects him to return next week before Philadelphia's second preseason game. Matt Tobin has been spending time at first team left tackle.

Same thing as Peters. Jaylen Watkins, Ed Reynolds, and Chris Maragos have all spent some time at first team safety in Jenkins' absence.

The veteran defensive tackle has missed the past few days with a knee issue.
Marcus Smith
Can't return to practice until he passes through the mandatory concussion protocol.
