Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Connor Wujciak underwent surgery on his shoulder and will be out for the upcoming season, according to a report from ESPN insider Adam Caplan. Wujciak must have suffered his injury at some point during Eagles training camp.
Wujciak, 23, had signed with the Eagles as an undrafted rookie agent following the 2016 NFL Draft. The Boston College alumnus was actually Philadelphia's second best ranked UDFA signing.
Wujciak may have been a long shot to make the final roster but he could have been practice squad material. The Eagles are in need of more defensive tackle depth so losing a player at the position to injury certainly isn't favorable.
The Eagles will likely place Wujciak on the season-ending injured reserve list and/or waive him with an injury settlement. By doing this, the Eagles will free up a roster spot.
As a reminder, here's a list of the remaining defensive tackles on Philadelphia's roster behind obvious starters Fletcher Cox and Bennie Logan: Mike Martin, Taylor Hart, Beau Allen, Destiny Vaeao, Aziz Shittu.
