Carson Wentz on track to play final Eagles preseason game

New, comments

Wentz is looking good for a good look next week.

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Carson Wentz is fully on schedule to play in next week's preseason finale, according to Eagles insider Dave Spadaro.

Doug Pederson was asked about Wentz's progress after the game and confirmed the rookie quarterback has a shot to suit up.

Wentz missed last week's game and is missing tonight's after suffering a hairline fracture of his ribs in the first preseason game on August 11th. After sitting out last week, Wentz returned to practice in a limited capacity earlier this week. The Eagles had hoped he would recover in time for the final preseason game against the Jets, and with that game five days away, it appears that Wentz will get the green light.

John Clark and Dave Zangaro of Comcast SportsNet has some good video of Wentz throwing in warm ups earlier tonight.

The preseason finale is on Thursday, September 1st at home against, who else, the New York Jets. We'll find out more about Wentz's official status for the game as the week progresses.
