Wentz will still travel with the team. The rookie quarterback is still dealing with the rib injury he suffered in the first preseason game. It remains to be seen if Wentz will be ready to play in the preseason finale, which takes place on Thursday, Sept. 1.
Seumalo being out is a surprise. The rookie blocker strained his pectoral muscle in practice on Monday, according to Pederson. He's been described as "day-to-day" and veteran Stefen Wisniewski will start in his place. Is it possible Wiz could steal the left guard job away from the rookie?
"I'm not saying he can't win it, but I'm saying right now I'm not going to let an injury keep Isaac out of the starting rotation," said Pederson.
Matthews has missed all of preseason with a knee injury but still expects to be ready for Week 1.
The rookie defensive end suffered a strained calf in practice on Monday.
Martin returned to practice this week after missing the first two preseason games due to a knee injury. He's still not going to play, though. Has there been enough time for the Eagles to evaluate Martin in order to determine if he warrants a roster spot?
"There is," Pederson said. "He's a veteran guy that understands how to play [and] how to get himself ready to play. He's also in a position where you're probably not going to lean on him for more than 15, 20, 25 snaps a game. And that's what you want out of him. Just getting him to the gate on Sundays is obviously where you want to be and what you want to do."
"But, yeah, we've seen enough and he's done enough in his past, for us as coaches, to feel comfortable with that."
Grymes suffered an AC sprain in the Eagles-Steelers game last week. He's expected to miss at least the rest of preseason.
The rookie linebacker suffered an ACL injury last week. The Eagles haven't officially placed him on the season-ending injured reserve list yet. The reason for the delay is likely because Philadelphia doesn't want to expose him to being claimed on waivers right now.
As for players who will be playing, expect to see the Eagles' starters playing into the third quarter. Newly acquired Dorial Green-Beckham is set to get some playing time with the first team. Rookie running back Wendell Smallwood will make his preseason debut. Linebacker Mychal Kendricks will presumably suit up after missing the first two preseason games. Jalen Mills is set to return after missing last week's game. JaCorey Shepherd could play in his first NFL game ever if he's ready to suit up this week. Veteran linebacker Stephen Tulloch is also on pace to see some game action.
