Eagles Injury Update: Carson Wentz is doing some throwing

New, comments

Checking in on the Eagles rookie passer.

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The Eagles returned to practice on Monday afternoon having off on Sunday. Here's an update on Philadelphia's injury situation as the team prepares to play the Indianapolis Colts this Saturday.

QB Carson Wentz

Prior to practice, Doug Pederson said Wentz wouldn't throw on Monday because Wentz was sore after throwing a little on Saturday and Sunday. Before practice, however, Wentz said he didn't throw on Sunday. Then the rookie quarterback was seen doing some light throwing off to the side during practice. It still seems like the fourth preseason game is the realistic target for Wentz's return.

LB Mychal Kendricks

Kendricks was a full participant in Monday's practice. He said he plans to play this week. The starting WILL linebacker missed the first two preseason games due to a hamstring injury.

WR Jordan Matthews

Matthews is still out. On Saturday, he told reporters he plans to be ready for Week 1.

RB Wendell Smallwood

The rookie running back was a full participant in practice and plans to make his NFL preseason debut this Saturday.

K Caleb Sturgis

Sturgis has been cleared to return to practice after suffering a concussion in warmups last Thursday. He outkicked Cody Parkey on Monday.

S Blake Countess

Countess suffered a concussion during the Eagles-Steelers game but has since been cleared to return.

CB Aaron Grymes

Still out with an AC sprain.

CB JaCorey Shepherd

Shepherd missed the first two preseason games but now he's back at practice. The once-promising player has an up-hill battle to climb in order to make the final roster.

DT Mike Martin

The backup defensive tackle returned to practice on Monday for the first time in a long time. Martin missed the first two preseason games with dealing with a knee injury.
