Earlier on Saturday, Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson ripped the NFLPA for not having his back regarding his potential 10-game suspension. Johnson claims the supplement he used, which tested positive for a banned substance, was approved by the NFLPA. The players' union has since issued a public response to Johnson's comments.
1. NFLPA does not approve supplements.
2. While the [Aegis] App may have listed it with a green check, players are reminded within the app, at team meetings and as part of the policy that a) supplements may contain stuff not on the label and b) still strict liability for putting it in your body if it contains something not on the label.
In other words, the NFLPA is making it clear they're not taking any responsibility for Johnson's expected suspension.
No matter who is to blame, it doesn't change the fact that Johnson will likely miss the first 10 games of the 2016 NFL season. Johnson isn't expecting to hear official word on his status until a few weeks from now, but he doesn't feel confident his B sample will test clean.
In the meantime, the Eagles are already preparing to be without Johnson. Philadelphia used starting left guard Allen Barbre at right tackle during practice on Saturday.
