Brandon Boykin is back in the NFL. The former Philadelphia Eagles cornerback signed a contract with the Chicago Bears on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old Boykin hasn't found stability since being traded away by Chip Kelly last summer. He only saw limited playing time with the Steelers in 2015 before Pittsburgh allowed him to walk in free agency. Boykin signed a one-year deal with the Panthers before Carolina released him less than two months later. The Atlanta Falcons and Dallas Cowboys hosted Boykin on free agent visits, but both teams ultimately passed on him.
Boykin's plight is odd because he was such a productive player in Philadelphia. He had six interceptions in 2013. He was well-liked by fans.
It's been rumored that Boykin has a degenerative hip condition. Despite being listed on injury reports with hip issues in the past, Boykin has denied this rumor. Now he'll have the chance to prove people wrong in Chicago.
Boykin will get to face off against his old team if he makes the Bears' final roster. The Eagles and Bears are set to play on Monday Night Football in Chicago during NFL Week 2.
