Junior Galette Injury: Redskins lose pass rusher for second year in a row

New, comments

Bad news for Washington.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Redskins have lost Junior Galette to a season-ending Achilles injury, according to a report from NFL insider Rand Getlin. This marks the second year in a row where Galette's season is over before it even begun. Galette suffered the same injury (different leg, though) in late August last year. This is obviously a tough break for both Galette and Washington.

The 28-year-old Galette has yet to play a regular season snap with Washington after signing with team last offseason. Galette was a very productive pass rusher for the Saints. He racked up 22 sacks in his final 32 games played with New Orleans. Then the Saints cut him due to off-the-field issues, which include alleged domestic violence incidents.

Galette was one of several Washington players talking trash about the Eagles earlier this offseason. Now he won't be available to play in the Redskins' games against Philadelphia in Week 6 and Week 14.
