Training Camp: Eagles 2016 projected starting lineup

NFL: Philadelphia Eagles-Minicamp Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The first day of Eagles training camp practice begins today, July 25. The entire team hasn’t reported to Philadelphia yet, but they’ll arrive on Wednesday, July 27. The first full day of practice is set to take place on Thursday, July 28. Here’s an early preview of the team’s projected starting lineup heading into camp. These are likely the players who will be taking the bulk of the first team reps during practices. We'll start with the offense.

Quarterback - Sam Bradford

Running back - Ryan Mathews

(Fullback - Chris Pantale)

Wide receiver - Jordan Matthews

Wide receiver - Nelson Agholor

Wide receiver - Josh Huff

Tight end - Zach Ertz

Left tackle - Jason Peters

Left guard - Allen Barbre

Center - Jason Kelce

Right guard - Brandon Brooks

Right tackle - Lane Johnson

Bradford will run with the first team, but the Eagles are expected to split quarterback reps evenly until the season draws closer. Chase Daniel will be with the second team while Carson Wentz runs the third team unit.

Mathews is the starter but the Eagles will likely rotate a number of guys in at running back. Doug Pederson suggested the Eagles are going to use a committee approach.

Pantale got reps at first team fullback in the spring. He’ll also take tight end reps with the second/third teams.

The wide receiver situation is interesting. The young guys are projected as starters for now, but we could see Rueben Randle and Chris Givens get mixed in.

The Eagles are expected to challenge Allen Barbre, who currently gets the nod at left guard. Isaac Seumalo and Stefen Wisniewski should see reps there.

Defensive end - Vinny Curry

Defensive end - Connor Barwin

Defensive tackle - Fletcher Cox

Defensive tackle - Bennie Logan

Outside linebacker - Nigel Bradham

Outside linebacker - Mychal Kendricks

Middle linebacker - Jordan Hicks

Cornerback - Leodis McKelvin

Cornerback - Nolan Carroll

Safety - Malcolm Jenkins

Safety - Rodney McLeod

Curry, Barwin, and Brandon Graham are bound to rotate at defensive end. During spring practices, Graham mostly spent time with the second team.

Cox will be back at practice after not participating in spring drills.

Hicks dealt with some injury issues in the spring but should be healthy now.

Carroll also missed a lot of OTAs and minicamp due to injury. The veteran defensive back took some first team reps near the end of spring practice so he might resume that role now. Second year cornerback Eric Rowe ran with the second team a lot. It seems like the staff is pushing him.

Kicker - Cody Parkey

Punter - Donnie Jones

Long snapper - Jon Dorenbos

Punt returner - Darren Sproles

Kick returner - Josh Huff

The winner of the kicker battle will be determined this offseason. I’ve written that Caleb Sturgis has a slight edge, but it’s close right now.

Dorenbos will have to fend off undrafted rookie free agent John DePalma.

Sproles is locked in at punt returner. Huff is probably the kick returner, but maybe someone can challenge him. It’s not like he was all that great last year.
