Carson Wentz might not play very much for the Eagles as a rookie. His head coach, Doug Pederson, has even admitted that Wentz is likely to be inactive on game days. Despite this, however, the 23-year-old passer already has one of the most popular jerseys in the NFL.
According to a report from ESPN, Wentz's jersey is the sixth best seller in a time period from April 1 through June 30. Wentz is the second rookie on the list. Ezekiel Elliott, who was picked by the Dallas Cowboys with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, tops the list at No. 1 overall. The complete top six is as follows.
1) RB Ezekiel Elliott - Dallas Cowboys
2) QB Tom Brady - New England Patriots
3) WR Odell Beckham Jr. - New York Giants
4) QB Cam Newton - Carolina Panthers
5) TE Rob Gronkowski - New England Patriots
6) QB Carson Wentz - Philadelphia Eagles
It's interesting to see Wentz is ahead of the No. 1 overall pick in the draft: Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff. Goff seemingly has a much better chance to start this year than Wentz does.
It's not surprising to see Eagles fans get behind Wentz, though. They basically have no other choice. The Eagles gave up a huge trade package to get him and everyone knows he's the future face of the franchise. It's only a matter of time before he's the starting quarterback.
