Eagles' Nelson Agholor will not face charges, per Philadelphia District Attorney

It's official.

The Philadelphia District Attorney has announced that no charges will be filed against Eagles wide receiver Nelson Agholor. Here's the official statement.

"The District Attorney’s Family Violence and Sexual Assault Unit and detectives from the Philadelphia Police Department’s Special Victims Unit thoroughly investigated the allegations of sexual assault against Nelson Agholor. As a result of this joint investigation, our staff and the Police reached the conclusion that we lacked sufficient evidence to bring charges against Mr. Agholor, therefore no charges will be filed."

This announcement was expected. It was reported last week that no charges were expected to be filed. The 23-year-old Agholor was under investigation for sexual assault regarding an alleged incident at the Cheerleaders Gentlemen’s Club following Philadelphia's final minicamp practice on June 9. The assault claim reportedly stemmed from a money dispute.

Despite this announcement from the DA, there is still a chance Agholor could face punishment under the NFL's personal conduct policy. Agholor could also be subject to a civil lawsuit. So far, there has been no indication of either possibility happening.

Agholor is set to report to Philadelphia for the start of Eagles training camp next week on Wednesday, July 27. The Eagles are hoping the 2015 first round draft pick can be a significant contributor on offense.
