Brian Orakpo called the Eagles' offensive line "garbage" while defending DeMarco Murray

DeMarco Murray did not play very well for the Eagles in 2015. He was very bad. Despite this, the Titans actually made a trade with Philadelphia to get him and his hefty contract this offseason. Now Titans players are singing Murray's praises and saying his struggles weren't his fault.

"There’s a lot of factors that may play into [why Murray had a disappointing season]," Titans defensive end Brian Orakpo said, via Jason Wolf of The Tennessean. "Wrong style, not getting along with the coaching staff, offensive line being garbage. I mean, it’s a lot of things that can be attributed to the way he performed or the way he didn’t perform as well as everybody wanted him to. But I really feel like the Titans is the team for him, and like I said, he’s been great so far."

There's no question the Eagles' offensive line struggled in 2015. The aging Jason Peters was in and out of the lineup as he battled through injuries all season. Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson also weren't healthy. The guard play was very suspect at best. Football Outsiders ranked the Eagles' run blocking 30th out of 32 teams.

With that said, other Eagles running backs had more success than Murray did last year. Ryan Mathews ran for 5.0 yards per attempt compared to Murray's figure of 3.6. Kenjon Barner (4.4) and Darren Sproles (3.8) also ran more efficiently than Murray. Put the numbers aside for a second. Just watch Murray on tape and you can see that he was slow as hell. His effort was also questionable at times, as evidenced by this slide.

But enough about Murray and back to Orakpo. I can't imagine his comments sit well with the Eagles' current offensive line considering that potentially four of the same starters from 2015 will be in place this year: Peters, Kelce, Johnson, and maybe Allen Barbre.

In any case, there's reason to believe the Eagles' offensive line could be improved this season if Peters, Kelce, and Johnson aren't all hurt again. Free agent signing Brandon Brooks should be a significant upgrade at right guard. There's a competition at left guard with Barbre, third round pick Isaac Seumalo, veteran Stefen Wisniewski, and others in the mix.
