The Philadelphia Eagles selected Florida pass rusher Alex McCalister in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft with the No. 240 overall pick. Like some of the other players the Eagles drafted in the late rounds, McCalister has character concerns. Philadelphia took a risk on him, however, because he has intriguing size and talent. He has very long arms and he can bend. He'll need to put on some weight to be a defensive end in the Eagles' 4-3 scheme but he might be able to have some immediate impact as a pass rushing specialist.
Wide 9 absolutely needs pass rushers to succeed. Eagles have 3 good DEs. After that, depth was needed. McCalister helps.

Alex McCalister has an 86 1/4in wingspan? What? Is that a typo? That's bigger than almost all offensive tackles!

Florida EDGE Alex McCalister has one of the weirdest profiles I've ever seen. 92 Uniqueness (out of 100). No significant comps.

I would argue Alex McCalister is a much better pass rusher than Leonard Floyd: pic.twitter.com/aw7TxfKVwH
