The Philadelphia Eagles drafted a player in the seventh round at No. 233 that many did not expect to be available. LSU safety Jalen Mills was rated as high as a second round talent by some. CBS Sports lists him as a third round pick. Character concerns and injury issues caused Mills to fall. The Eagles took a gamble and it might pay off. It remains to be seen if Mills will compete for playing time at cornerback or safety. He could be a nice backup to have with starting potential down the line. Here are some more reactions to the pick.
Interesting comments from Mel Kiper after this yr's Combine. Had #Eagles 7th rd pick Jalen Mills as a 2nd/3rd rd guy pic.twitter.com/Gww6WQdcBW

The player Jalen Mills reminded me of...Walter Thurmond. Never thought Mills would slide to the 7th round. Really surprising.

#Eagles haven't been character-averse on Day 3. Jalen Mills one of best available. If he's good off-field, just got awesome DB value.

Oh snap, #Eagles got a really good player with Jalen Mills

Very good coverage by Jalen Mills here, but not great ball placement by Kessler. Could have been a TD. pic.twitter.com/XMC5JnQ5am
