Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Matt Tobin signed his one-year contract tender, according to an official announcement from the team. The deal is worth just over $1.6 million.
Tobin was a restricted free agent this offseason. The Eagles tendered him to the lowest level possible, which means any team could have signed him to an offer sheet. To no surprise, however, no other teams showed interest in Tobin so he'll be returning to Philadelphia.
The 25-year-old Tobin has played in 30 games and started 20 since signing with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2013. It's no secret that Tobin has struggled when forced into regular playing time. According to Pro Football Focus, he graded out as one of the worst starting guards in the NFL last season.
Philadelphia's free agents signings of Wisniewski and Brandon Brooks should give the Birds two new starters at guard and relegate Tobin to the bench.
