The Philadelphia Eagles selected West Virginia running back Wendell Smallwood with the No. 153 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Prior to the draft I talked a lot about how the Eagles NEEDED to draft a running back. I think I wrote a billion times about how Ryan Mathews is injury-prone and fumbles while Darren Sproles turns 33 years old soon and is playing on the last year of his contract. After running back wasn't the pick in the third round, the Eagles had to wait all the way until the fifth. Unfortunately for them, perhaps, a big run on running backs started right before their pick. So was Smallwood really the guy they loved or did they settle? Fair to wonder.
In any case, Smallwood does make some sense for the team. The Eagles need playmakers on offense and he might be able to provide some of that. Smallwood tied for the NCAA lead in runs of 10+ yards last year. The players he was tied with include Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry and top 2017 draft prospect Leonard Fournette.
Now we turn it over to you. Remember, overreacting isn't just fun; it's mandatory. It's time for you to weigh in on why is this the best/worst pick of all time. Tell us how you really feel and vote in the poll below.
