Sam Bradford Trade Rumors: Broncos reached out to the Eagles

Does any team actually want Sam Bradford?

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Broncos appear to have some level of interest in Sam Bradford. According to Mike Klis of 9News, the Broncos reached out to the Eagles about the disgruntled quarterback.

Sam Bradford wants the Eagles to trade him. The problem is that the Eagles do not want to trade Sam Bradford. Philadelphia signed Bradford to a two-year contract earlier this offseason worth up to $35 million with $22 million guaranteed. The Eagles have been very clear about wanting Bradford to be their starter for the 2016 season. Bradford isn't feeling so happy with the Eagles, however, since they've traded up to the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

The Broncos have a clear need at quarterback. They are currently left without a great starting option after Peyton Manning retired and Brock Osweiler left to sign a mega-deal with the Houston Texans in free agency. Denver acquired former Eagles backup quarterback Mark Sanchez in a trade earlier this offseason for the mere cost of a conditional seventh round pick. He's currently slated to be their starter and it's expected Denver will draft a passer at some point as well.

Bradford asking for a trade puts the Eagles in a tough spot. They don't have to submit to his trade demands. Bradford can get away with skipping voluntary offseason workouts but he'll start losing money as soon as he holds out of mandatory practices. The problem is that he would be missing valuable practice reps in the meantime.

It's hard to imagine the Eagles are going to get a trade offer for Bradford that they really like. If Bradford was so valued by another team out there, one would think Tom Condon and Bradford would have opted to test the market instead of re-signing with the Eagles before free agency began. The fact that he abandoned his team and caused unnecessary drama can't be helping his value.

It goes without saying that this is a messy situation. I don't think anyone has a good sense of how it will play out.
