2016 NFL Mock Draft: Washington rolls with Ryan Kelly

With the 21st overall pick in the 2016 Bleeding Green Nation community mock draft, Washington GM TheCoxishere selects ...

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Ryan Kelly, C, Alabama

With this Pick the Redskins get a solid Starter in the middle and for the future. Pairing them with Brandon Scherff and Trent Williams gives the redskins three Pro Bowl Caliber linemen, easily making them the top three Offensive Line in the NFC East behind Dallas, and possibly the Eagles.

Kelly finished his career with a national title win in his 35th career start, took home the Rimington Award as the nation's top center in 2015 and shared the SEC's Jacobs Blocking Trophy (top blocker) with Arkansas' Sebastian Tretola. Kelly might be a little bit of a reach in the first round but Washington needs help along the line they have their LT and RG spots filled. But they can’t make a deeper run into the playoffs without a solid center.

I could have went a couple of other ways. I could have drafted Andrew Billings, DT, Jarran Reed, DT, A'Shawn Robinson DT, Reggie Ragland LB on the Defensive Side, or Josh Doctson WR, Michael Thomas WR, or Vonn Bell S. But It came down to fixing there line and was a hard decision between Cody Whitehair and Ryan Kelly. But I felt the middle was too important to skip.

Communication skills.

Boasts the awareness and strength.

Quite athletic.

Has not allowed a sack the past two years.

Quick snap-and-step motion.

Average-at-best size, length and growth potential

Needs to continue and develop his power.

Quick movements based more on awareness rather than explosive traits.

Overeager at times.

Overaggressive at the second level.

Durability should be worked on but should not raise big concerns.
