Earlier this week, NFL insider Jason La Canfora reported he hears the Eagles will draft Ezekiel Elliott at No. 8 assuming Jared Goff and Carson Wentz are both off the board by then. La Canfora said the Philadelphia Eagles "are in love with" Elliott and they "covet" him. He also said that "there will be plenty of ecstatic people in that war room" if the Eagles draft him.
Now Elliott himself is saying he's garnering a lot of interest from the Birds. In fact, Elliott says the Eagles are the team showing the most interest in him. Via James Walker of ESPN:
According to Elliott, the team showing him the most interest during the pre-draft process is the Philadelphia Eagles.
It's worth noting the Eagles are one of several teams that hosted Elliott on a pre-draft visit.
There's no denying the Eagles have a huge need at running back. The injury-prone Ryan Mathews is currently the team's starter and it's rumored he could be traded if the Birds take Elliott. Darren Sproles and Kenjon Barner, meanwhile, aren't reliable full-time starters either. It seems like a lock that the Eagles will draft a running back at some point. Maybe it could be as early as the first round. Or maybe Elliott is gone before the Eagles pick at No. 8 and the Birds can find one later in the draft.
We've already talked about Zeke a lot here at BGN, so here are some links to read.
