Ron Brooks, Eagles agree to three-year contract

The Philadelphia Eagles just can't stop signing former Buffalo Bills players. The Birds have agreed to terms on a contract with free agent cornerback Ron Brooks, according to an official announcement from the team. The deal is reportedly worth $6 million over three years. It can be worth up to $8.7 million if Brooks gets a lot of playing time.

Brooks, 27, measures in at 5-10, 190 pounds. He's only made three starts in 46 career games played. He recorded 55 tackles and 7 passes defensed over a four year span. Brooks led the Bills in special teams tackles in 2014 and placed third in that category last season.

Brooks is the third former Bills player to sign with the Eagles this week. Philadelphia added veteran cornerback Leodis McKelvin and 4-3 outside linebacker Nigel Bradham in the past two days. It's clear defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz played a significant role in these signings.

The guess here is that Brooks is a depth player who has a chance to earn playing time if his performance warrants it. The Eagles needed some help at cornerback after moving on from Byron Maxwell. Perhaps it's him and McKelvin competing for the outside spot opposite of Eric Rowe?
