Peyton Manning, one of the best quarterbacks to ever play in the NFL, officially retired on Monday. The 18-year veteran reflected on his accomplished career in a lengthy speech at the Denver Broncos' headquarters. Part of Manning's speech involved paying respect to some of the best defensive players and coaches he had the pleasure of facing. Two names mentioned by Manning are instantly recognizable by Philadelphia Eagles fans ... future Hall of Fame safety Brian Dawkins and legendary defensive coordinator Jim Johnson. Very cool of Manning to include those names among quite a distinguished group.
The full player list includes: John Lynch, Ray Lewis, Derrick Thomas, Tedy Bruschi, London Fletcher, Brian Dawkins, Junior Seau, Brian Urlacher, Troy Polamalu, James Harrison, Charles Woodson, Ed Reed. The full coaching list includes: Jeff Fisher, Rex Ryan, Bill Belichick, Monte Kiffin, Wade Phillips, Ron Rivera, Dick LeBeau, Romeo Crennel, Dom Capers, Marvin Lewis, and "the late Jim Johnson."
Respect.
