NJ.com is reporting that Fletcher Cox and the Eagles are close on a new contract, which is also what they first reported 11 days ago in late January. Cox himself doesn't seem so sure, though. Check out this tweet he sent out on Tuesday morning:
Can the reporters please stop the nonsense nothing is true to what they are reporting ... SAD

It's possible Cox could be talking about something else here, but the timing makes you wonder. This is hardly the first time Cox has sent out a cryptic tweet about his contract status. Look at these other recent examples:
@BOBonTCN @bbrooks72TCN new deal what's that ....

NFL insider Adam Schefter appeared on 97.5 The Fanatic last week and said Cox and the Eagles are NOT close on a new contract.
So does all of this mean it's time to panic? No, probably not. The Eagles still have plenty of time to get a deal done. They have over an entire year until Cox becomes an unrestricted free agent. Even in the worst case scenario, the Eagles could always just hit Cox with the franchise tag next offseason.
The Eagles are very publicly committed to Cox. Howie Roseman said he wants to keep Cox. Roseman's strategy of re-signing home grown players to extensions is a sign that his words are genuine. It's really only a matter of time when this deal gets done. The sooner the better, obviously, but there's no need to worry just yet.
