Despite not being scheduled to speak at the podium for the third year in a row, Chip Kelly did end up talking with some San Francisco reporters at the 2016 NFL Combine. The following is a real quote from the former Eagles head coach. No, really. I swear it isn't made up. Just look:
Chip Kelly on Colin Kaepernick: ‘Our job is acquiring talent, not getting rid of talent.’ ... #49ers https://t.co/6QLXpuhZFr

Excuse the emoji outburst, but c'mon, Chip. You're just straight trolling with that one. Kelly's tenure in Philadelphia will always be associated with how he got rid of talented players such as DeSean Jackson, Evan Mathis, LeSean McCoy, Brandon Boykin, etc. It can even be argued Kelly wasn't even necessarily wrong to get rid of those players, but it's clear his inability to replace them was part of his downfall.
Maybe this is a sign Kelly has learned from his mistakes. Or maybe it's just more empty words.
