Giants at Eagles second quarter

Now that’s a good start

What a start. The Eagles forced a three and out by the Giants on the first possession with some strong defense on Odell Beckham, Jr. Then the Eagles ground out a touchdown drive that started with a 17 yard run by Ryan Mathews and ended with a dazzling 25 yard touchdown run by Darren Sproles. Carson Wentz got in on the action with a 16 yard pass to Brent Celek and a 9 yard run on a scramble.

On the next drive the Eagles hot start continued when the Eagles forced Eli Manning to step up in the pocket, resulting in a pick six for Malcolm Jenkins.

The Giants couldn’t kill any momentum though, as the Eagles again forced a three and out, only to have one of their own.

After a 30 yard pass to Beckham helped get the Giants into the red zone, New York had to settle for a field goal. 14-3 Eagles.

There’s still three quarters to go, but what a great start for a team in desperate need of one.
