The Darrell Greene and JaCorey Shepherd saga continues, with a twist

Life has no meaning the moment you lose the illusion of being eternal.

The Eagles made two practice squad moves on Friday, because, well, Howie Roseman was just getting antsy for Sunday, damn it.

One move was familiar: the team released cornerback JaCorey Shepherd and signed guard Darrell Greene to the practice squad. Those two have swapped positions on the practice squad four times now this season, and it seems Roseman is intent on utilizing a lack of rules on practice squad cuts and signings to maximize his practice squad space.

The second move was less familiar. The Eagles released linebacker Don Cherry from the practice squad and signed guard Matt Rotheram to the practice squad.

Cherry, a former Villanova standout, was signed to the practice squad this past offseason after going undrafted.

Rotheram spent last season on the Packers’ practice squad after going undrafted out of Pitt in 2015.

All in all, there is very little of importance in these moves. But they happened! And I love Shepherd and Greene continuing to swap spots. It’s my favorite part of the season, just ahead of the marble statue of Carson Wentz I’m building in my bedroom.

Here’s the Eagles’ practice squad as of the afternoon of October 7:

FB Andrew Bonnet, G Matt Rotheram, RB Byron Marshall, QB Aaron Murray, C/G Aaron Neary, G Darrell Greene, DT Aziz Shittu, CB C.J. Smith, WR Paul Turner and WR David Watford.

BONUS! Here’s a list of all the times JaCorey Shepherd and Darrell Greene have swapped spots:

First time: September 21

Second time: September 27

Third time: October 3

Fourth time: Today!
