Week 4 Monday Night Football: Giants at Vikings

Sammy vs. Eli, y’all.

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Carolina Panthers Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

Monday Night Football, Sammy Sleeves edition!

This game has a few different Eagles threads running through it.

For one Sam Bradford used to throw the football for the Eagles. He was the team’s quarterback last season, and he wasn’t very good at it but he wasn’t very bad at it, either. He was just okay at it.

For a long time people thought he would throw the football for the Eagles this season, too, but then he was traded to Minnesota, where he is playing quarterback for the Vikings and doing it pretty well. He’s completed 67.8% of his passes for 457 yards and 3 TDs in his two games with Minnesota. That’s good.

Another thing: when the Eagles traded Bradford to Minnesota, they received in return a first-round pick from the Vikings, for next April’s draft. If the Vikings are bad this season, the Eagles will get a good pick. If the Vikings are good this season, the Eagles will get a less-good pick. So far, the Vikings have been good. For now, it looks like they’ll continue to be good. But every Minnesota game impacts that draft pick.

And, finally, a Giants game always impacts the Eagles because the two teams play in the same division. The Giants enter this game at 2-1. The Cowboys are 3-1 after winning yesterday. If the Giants win (they won’t, but if they do) there will be three teams with at least three wins after four weeks in a division many people thought would be middling at best. What a world, huh?

Should be a good game. Here’s what to know if you want to watch:
