Doug Pederson spoke to reporters Friday morning with news: starting defensive tackle Bennie Logan is out for this weekend’s game against the Cowboys.

The groin injury Logan has been dealing with is getting better, Pederson said, but he’s still out for the Eagles’ key divisional matchup with Dallas on Sunday night.

Pederson didn’t want to overreact to the injury news, but he admitted it won’t make the Eagles’ job any easier.

“[Logan being out is] huge,” Pederson said. “It’s big, any time you lose a great player like Bennie for a couple weeks. But I’ve always been under the sort of ‘next man up’ mentality, and that’s where we’re at.”

In Logan’s place, Beau Allen will start alongside Fletcher Cox at defensive tackle as the Eagles prepare to take on Ezekiel Elliot, who led the league in rushing yards after Week 7 (703 yards in six games) and leads the league in yards per attempt (5.0).

Allen started last week in Logan’s place, and Pederson said Friday he was happy with the way the third-year tackle performed against the Vikings.

“Beau played good,” Pederson said. “He’s a guy that gives you great effort every time he’s in there. Obviously the fumble recovery was big for us. Beau’s consistent, he’s solid, and we’re just fortunate to have him be one of our tackles.”

Special teams contributor and backup linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill will also be out on Sunday.
