Eagles’ Ron Brooks was carted off the field in the first quarter

A non-contact injury in coverage.

NFL: Philadelphia Eagles at Detroit Lions Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

On a third down pass with about three and a half minutes left in the first quarter, Ron Brooks missed a tackle and went down to the field with an injury.

According to the team, Brooks is officially out of the game with a right knee injury.

Brooks couldn’t get up without help from trainers, and he left the field on a cart.

On the play, Brooks never actually made contact with the pass catcher, Jerrick McKinnon, which makes the injury that much more concerning. Non-contact injuries are almost never good.

With Brooks out, the Eagles slide Malcolm Jenkins into the slot corner spot in nickel packages and Jaylen Watkins to safety, as they did last week against Washington.

Brooks entered today’s game with a nagging calf injury, and was listed as questionable.
