Eagles release Darrell Greene, sign Don Cherry, save world

You can cut all the flowers but you cannot keep Spring from coming.

The Eagles have released Darrell Greene from the practice squad and signed Don Cherry to the practice squad, signaling the coming of a new week and the slow drip of time passing through our slotted fingers, another seven days wasted in the vain pursuit of happiness when we know full well the inevitable pain awaiting us on Sunday afternoon.

Darrell Greene has been a part of eight practice squad transactions this season. Julian Vandervelde was part of 20 transactions, I believe, as a Philadelphia Eagle.

If Howie Roseman continues to release or sign Greene each week for the rest of the season, Greene will be up to 17 transactions before he’s been in the league for a calendar year.

I wonder what Darrell Greene’s apartment looks like. Is he a neat freak? Does he keep his clothing ordered by “released” and “signed” weeks? I like to imagine Darrell Greene is very organized.

In any case, here’s the Eagles’ practice squad as of today:

TE Anthony Denham, LB Don Cherry, RB Byron Marshall, QB Aaron Murray, C/G Aaron Neary, DT Aziz Shittu, G Matt Rotherham, CB Duke Thomas, WR Paul Turner and WR David Watford.
