New York Giants fans can now rest easy that their former coach won't be headed to the Eagles.
Earlier on Thursday, it was reported that the Eagles had turned their attention to Coughlin. The team reportedly met with him for a second interview, so they were obviously seriously interested in him. But once again, the Eagles lost out on their candidate.
As for the Eagles, well, this means one less option for them. The Birds are down to a mere three publicly known candidates: interim Eagles head coach Pat Shurmur, Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson, and Eagles running back Duce Staley. None of these options are very inspiring ... at all. To say the Eagles' coaching search has been a disappointment would be an understatement.
