The Washington Redskins are arguably the worst team in the NFL right now. If not, they're at least a dysfunctional mess, as evidenced here, near the bottom of the league. The team is heading into the season with Kirk Cousins as the starter after pulling the plug on Robert Griffin III just weeks before the regular season.
So it's understandable to see why people aren't very high on Washington. Even the players don't seem to be kidding themselves with false optimism. Check out this DeSean Jackson quote from a recent interview with GQ.com:
DeSean Jackson, scorned former Eagle, currently the most exciting and mercurial player on a Washington team that has not otherwise been very exciting lately, will answer the question, just as soon as he can figure out how:
Do you feel like you guys will contend this year?
Long silence. "Uh... how ’bout I say, uh... Let me see what I can answer to that question....""
Yikes.
