Eagles News: Washington Redskins are pretending RG3 doesn't exist

Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 9/5/15.

Let's get to the links...

Redskins Social Media Ignores RGIII’s Existence - Crossing Broad
The Redskins, like many other teams (and Glen Macnow), have been counting down to the kickoff of the regular season on social media. They’ve also been doing so by using player jerseys to substitute for typing in the number of days. But things have been awkward with their #10, RGIII. He might not even be there much longer, and he’s officially been declared their backup. So while 11 days meant there were DeSean Jaccson amount of days left until the regular season, 10 days means OH HEY LOOK IT’S OFFENSIVE TACKLE TRENT WILLIAMS.

Recapping a busy day of Eagles roster moves - BGN
The Philadelphia Eagles didn't actually officially announce any NFL roster cuts on Friday, but a number of reports from reliable reporters have already tipped the team's hand. The Eagles are expected to officially confirm these cuts at some point before the deadline to get down to 53 players by 4:00 PM EST on Saturday, Sept. 5. If the current unofficial count of 58 players remaining is to be believed, the Eagles have around 5 more roster moves to make. For now, here's a recap of what's been reported.

Get ready for Eagles season with some new football gear - BGN
Football season is almost here! This has to be one of the most anticipated Philadelphia Eagles seasons in recent history. It was a crazy offseason for the team and now the Eagles are looking flat out dominant in the preseason. The real games can't get here soon enough. Until then, now is as good a time as ever to get some new football gear for the upcoming season. Our good friends over at Philly Phaithful are back with some new deals for Bleeding Green Nation readers. Here are some details.

Eagles trade Matt Barkley to Cardinals - PhillyVoice
The Eagles traded up in the 2013 draft to take Barkley with the first pick in the fourth round, but he never developed into the quarterback they thought he could be. Barkley simply did not have an NFL arm, and his other attributes weren't good enough to mask that serious deficiency. The Eagles have been trying to trade Barkley for over a year.

Friday Roster Talk - Iggles Blitz
The problem is that Mostert compiled many of those yards against guys who are now hitting the street. He also did some of that damage in favorable situations…catching a pass in the flat and having tons of room to run. That allowed him to show off his speed and get yards, but you can’t count on similar situations during the year. Mostert might be a good #3 RB in time. He would help himself if he could learn to return punts. He needs to hone RB skills. I was very impressed with how tough he was this summer, but he still needs to get better before trying to run inside against a quality NFL defense.

Reasons for each NFC East team to be happy - Sports On Earth
Philadelphia Eagles: They'll blow everything up and not care one bit about it! Isn't this what we want from our coaches? To be Chip Kelly and to just floor it, every year? It's possible Kelly is out of his mind and is a mad scientist who is about to set his laboratory on fire. But the fact that he just goes for it -- that he'll rip an entire team apart and start over because of two late-season losses -- is what we want from our NFL, isn't it? It might not work. If it does, he'll be a hero in a football city that desperately wants on. And if it doesn't, the fallout will be glorious to watch. Either way: pure entertainment.

Steelers fans protest Michael Vick with strong takes - SB Nation
I stopped by the anti-Mike Vick protest outside Heinz field Thursday night before their preseason game verse the Carolina Panthers and Cam Newton (who it should be noted is not as good as Tom Brady. ) When I heard about a anti-Vick rally, I was all "Hell, count me in" but I didnt even know at the time it was going to have anything to do with dogfighting so that was kind of a bonus.
