Tim Tebow has been released by the Philadelphia Eagles, according to a report from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter. It's no longer Tebow Time.
This cut comes as somewhat of a surprise. It's been reported multiple times that Tebow had a "very good chance" of making the Eagles' final roster. With Matt Barkley quickly falling out of favor and Chip Kelly usually keeping at least three quarterbacks, it seemed like Tebow had a decent chance to make the team.
Tebow had a shaky preseason leading up his good performance in the team's preseason finale against the New York Jets. Tebow finished the 2015 NFL preseason with the following stat-line: 21/36, 286 yards (7.94 y/a), 2 TD, 1 INT (82 rush yards on 12 attempts, 1 rush TD).
Back when the Eagles officially signed Tebow in April, 55% of Eagles fans here at Bleeding Green Nation thought Tebow would make the final roster.
With Tebow gone, the Eagles are now down to two quarterbacks: Sam Bradford and Mark Sanchez. It remains to be seen if the Eagles only carry two quarterbacks or if they try to find a third string quarterback elsewhere.
