Before Week 3 of the 2015 NFL season schedule kicks off, I thought we would have some fun by taking a look at the spreads for this week's round of games. (Click here for NFL Week 3 picks without regard to the spread.)
Here are my suggestions when trying to beat the odds. You can find all of today's NFL betting lines and more at the SB Nation odds page. My record so far this season is 17-13 after going 8-7 last week. At least I'm above .500.
2015 NFL WEEK 3 PICKS AGAINST THE SPREAD
Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens (-3): The winless Ravens are favored at home against the undefeated Bengals. It's hard to see Baltimore dropping to 0-3, and Cincy isn't as good on the road, so the Ravens can be trusted here. Pick: Ravens -3
Indianapolis Colts (-3.5) at Tennessee Titans: The Colts haven't looked so great through the first two games. Playing their lowly AFC South rivals might help remedy their issues. It'd hard to be against former Eagles quarterback Marcus Mariota, but the rest of the Titans' roster is still thoroughly unimpressive. Pick: Colts -3.5
Jacksonville Jaguars at New England Patriots (-14): The Patriots shouldn't have a hard time beating up on the Jaguars at home. With that said, Jacksonville's defense might be able to keep them within two scores. I wouldn't take the Jags to win but watch them get a backdoor cover. Pick: Jaguars +14
Oakland Raiders at Cleveland Browns (-3.5): The Browns are going back to Josh McCown, so I really don't want to bet on them because he's pretty bad. Don't let me down, Raiders. Pick: Raiders +3.5
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Houston Texans (-7): Despite a road win last week, there's no way I really trust this Bucs team. The Texans don't look so inspiring either, but at least their defense is good. Pick: Texans -7
Pittsburgh Steelers (-2) at St. Louis Rams: The Steelers looked pretty good beating up on San Francisco at home last week. The Rams did not look so hot. I'll take Pittsburgh. Pick: Steelers -2
Philadelphia Eagles at New York Jets (-2.5): There's really no way I can take the Eagles to win when they can barely manage to even get a first down. The Eagles offense is struggling and going up against New York's defense won't help matters. I have to pick the Jets to win this game, but it could be a really close one. There also might be some upset potential here with how everyone is writing off the Eagles. Pick: Eagles +2.5
San Diego Chargers at Minnesota Vikings (-1): Minnesota appears to be back on track after a rough Week 1 outing. The Vikings' loss of motorcycle-riding mascot Ragnor certainly hurts, but I think they'll manage to carry on without him. Pick: Vikings -1
Atlanta Falcons (-2) at Dallas Cowboys: Brandon Weeden is bad and the Cowboys are missing a ton of players. Need I say more? Pick: Falcons -2
New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers (-10): This line says a lot more about how bad the Saints are than how good the Panthers are. Or at least that's how I'm making my decision. There's no way Luke McCown can be counted on. Pick: Panthers -10
San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals (-7): The 49ers looked terrible on the road in Week 2. Playing in Arizona won't be much easier for them. The Cardinals should be able to handle them. Pick: Cardinals -7
Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins (-3): This line seems wrong. Despite both teams being 1-1, the Dolphins have looked pretty bad so far while the Bills have looked much better. I worry about how Buffalo might perform on the road but I have them winning straight up so I obviously like them with the points. Pick: Bills +3
Chicago Bears at Seattle Seahawks (-15): With Kam Chancellor returning and the Seahawks finally playing at home, this feels like the week Seattle is going to get back on track with a big win. They should have their way with Jimmy Clausen's Bears. Pick: Seahawks -15
Denver Broncos (-3) at Detroit Lions: There are definitely concerns about Peyton Manning, but the Denver defense looks legit. The Broncos are coming off extra rest headed into this one since they played on Thursday last week. The Lions, meanwhile, are struggling. Pick: Broncos -3
Kansas City Chiefs at Green Bay Packers (-6): The Chiefs have never lost at Lambeau Field, but Aaron Rodgers is about to change that. Pick: Packers -6
