Mychal Kendricks Injury: Eagles linebacker ruled out of Dallas game

Another linebacker down.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

It's been a tough day for Philadelphia Eagles linebackers. Earlier in their Week 2 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, inside linebacker Kiko Alonso injured his knee and was ruled out for the game. Now, fellow inside linebacker Mychal Kendricks has been ruled out for the remainder of the game with a left hamstring injury.

The Eagles' linebacker depth is being tested early. Second-year player and 2014 first-round pick Marcus Smith was a healthy scratch Sunday. With Kendricks and Alonso out, the Eagles will be turning to veteran DeMeco Ryans and rookie third-round pick Jordan Hicks. But none of the linebackers on the team will be able to replace the coverage ability of Alonso and Kendricks.

With the Eagles offense unable to generate much in the way of yardage, the defense is being asked to keep the team in the game. That task will be a bit tougher without their top two linebackers out for the remainder of the contest.
