The Philadelphia Eagles defense has been performing admirably against the Dallas Cowboys, but they suffered an early loss - inside linebacker Kiko Alonso injured his left knee during the second quarter of the team's game against the Dallas Cowboys, and will not return.
Losing Alonso means that Mychael Kendricks and DeMeco Ryans will play the majority of the snaps at inside linebacker. Through just under two quarters, Ryans has been shaky at best. He nearly gave up a touchdown to Gavin Escobar in the first quarter, and missed a tackle on third down earlier in the game.
The silver lining here is that Alonso was able to walk into the locker room on his own. It remains to be seen exactly what the injury is, but at least it wasn't serious enough to require the cart. Eagles fans will certainly hope it's nothing severe, but the defense will miss his playmaking ability in this critical divisional matchup.
