The Philadelphia Eagles signed backup defensive end Brandon Bair to a short-term contract extension, according to a report from ESPN's Field Yates.

The Eagles have been locking up some of their backup players recently in an effort, as Chip Kelly explained it, to prevent having too many free agents all at once after this season.
Bair turns 31 years old in November, but he hasn't had a very long NFL career. The 6-7, 272 pound defensive lineman has only appeared in 16 career games and those all came during the 2014 season.
The Eagles kept Bair inactive during their Week 1 game against the Atlanta Falcons. It appears second-year defensive end Taylor Hart has surpassed Bair on the depth chart.
The Eagles originally signed Bair, an Oregon Ducks alumnus, to their practice squad in 2013. He's been with the team ever since.
