DeMarco Murray thinks LeSean McCoy needs to move on with his life

Probably some good advice.

Earlier this week, former Philadelphia Eagles and current Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy kind of dissed DeMarco Murray by saying he's not one of the NFL's top running backs.

"I think Murray’s good," McCoy said. "But I don’t see him as competition as far as the best backs. I like my game a lot."

Murray was asked about McCoy's comments on Thursday afternoon. Here's what the 2014 NFL leading rusher had to say, via CSN Philly:

"At some point you've got to move on with your life and career," he said of McCoy after practice.

Murray, who led the NFL in rushing last year, smiled when he talked about McCoy and his comments in GQ.

"I never worry about what someone else says about me, good, bad, and ugly," he said.

"I can only control what I can control, and I can't control what someone else says about me.

"It's funny, but I don't take anything to heart. He has his opinion, I'm sure everyone else has theirs. I'm not worried about it at all."

Boom.

Murray's probably telling the truth when he says he's not worried about McCoy's comments. But I can't help think of this quote from a Zach Ertz blog post from earlier this summer. Bold emphasis mine:

"He’s also one of the hardest working guys that I’ve ever been around. He has a tremendous work ethic, the kind of guy who holds everyone else to a higher standard than they might reach on their own. He also has — I don’t know how to describe it, exactly — basically, a personality that you don’t really want to mess with. He’s the kind of guy you always want to keep in your side of the ring, and he’s going to help our team a lot."

Murray runs the ball like he's angry. It's just his style. But he also has plenty of reasons to be upset. He was undervalued by the Cowboys and now Dallas is acting like they can replace his production without a challenge. Experts league-wide have questioned how effective Murray can be after handling such a big workload last year. Joseph Randle made comments about how Murray could have been better last season. And now McCoy took some jabs at the 2014 leading rusher.

Some people just might regret poking the bear in this case.
