Eagles reportedly release Mike Coccia and a few other players

New, comments

The Eagles have begun their cut down to 75.

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles have reportedly released offensive lineman Mike Coccia, according to a report from Matt Lombardo.

The release of Coccia is just one of the many cuts the Eagles will have to make before 4:00 PM EST on Tuesday, Sept. 1. That's the deadline for NFL teams to trim their roster down from the 90-man limit to 75 players. These cuts are typically easy for most teams because the players who are being cut are camp bodies who never really had much of a chance to make the final roster. Speaking of which, the Eagles will have to cut down to the regular season 53-man limit by 4:00 PM EST on Saturday, Aug. 5.

Coccia was a good story because the Bethlehem, PA native grew up as an Eagles fan. Philadelphia signed the University of New Hampshire offensive lineman as an undrafted free agent following the 2015 NFL Draft.

Expect news of more cuts to come shortly. Stay tuned to Bleeding Green Nation.
