Philadelphia Eagles snap counts: Backup safety position is still up for grabs

Who played the most and the least for the Eagles in Preseason Week 3?

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Here are the player snap counts from the Philadelphia Eagles' 39-26 final score preseason victory over the Green Bay Packers.

The following players were ruled inactive prior to the game: Zach Ertz, Marcus Smith, Emmanuel Acho (waived), JaCorey Shepherd (out for the year).

The following players were active but did not play: Kiko Alonso, Josh Huff, Cody Parkey, Brandan Bishop, Jared Wheeler, Kevin Graf, Mike Coccia.

Starters

Sam Bradford was pulled after three straight touchdowns drives because there wasn't much more he needed to show. The rest of the first team offense stayed in with Mark Sanchez for a little bit. The first team defense also played into the second quarter.

2015 NFL Draft Picks

WR Nelson Agholor - 48 offense

CB Eric Rowe - 51 defense, 14 special teams

LB Jordan Hicks - 38 defense, 19 special teams

CB JaCorey Shepherd - :(

CB Randall Evans - 6 defense, 5 special teams

DE Brian Mihalik - 17 defense

Quarterbacks

Sam Bradford - 18

Mark Sanchez - 30

Matt Barkley - 13

Tim Tebow - 14

Played, left early, did not return (Injury)

Lane Johnson (16)

Snap count observations

Ed Reynolds played more defensive and special teams snaps than Jerome Couplin, which could be a good sign for the former. The Eagles didn't play Chris Maragos at all on defense in order to free up snaps for those two players.

Matt Tobin played the most of any offensive lineman because he filled in at right tackle when Johnson left the game. He appears to be the top backup off the bench at guard and tackle.

Rookies Nelson Agholor and Eric Rowe got a lot of playing time.

Tim Tebow played one more snap than Matt Barkley.

Eric Tomlinson got some decent run on offense and on special teams. He sure seems like a practice squad candidate.

Undrafted free agent rookie cornerback Denzel Rice played twice as many special teams snaps as sixth round pick Randall Evans. Maybe Rice is ahead of Evans?

Miles Austin hasn't played any special teams snaps despite being a backup wide receiver.
