Evan Mathis drawing interest from Seahawks, other NFL teams

Where will the former Eagles guard land?

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Remember Evan Mathis? It's been a long time since the former Eagles offensive lineman has been in the news. According to a report from Adam Schefter, however, Mathis is scheduled to visit with the Seattle Seahawks. But apparently it's not a lock that he will visit? Schefter says that other (unnamed) NFL teams are also interested in Mathis.

The 33-year-old Mathis has been on the market since the Eagles released him in mid-June. Chip Kelly ultimately explained the release of Mathis by citing financial reasons. Mathis personally told me his demands after he was released:

"All I asked for in the end was Pro Bowl/All-Pro bonuses that would allow me to reach 8 mil/year. Which is slightly less than top 5 OG APY. But I would have had to earn them."

It'll be interesting to see where Mathis ends up. The Seahawks already signed one of Philadelphia's castoffs earlier this offseason when they brought in Cary Williams.

With Mathis gone, the Eagles are moving forward with Allen Barbre at left guard. It appears Andrew Gardner is the favorite at right guard.
