Philadelphia Eagles outside linebacker Marcus Smith suffered a right hamstring strain during practice on Thursday, as confirmed by the team. According to Les Bowen, Smith is scheduled to get an MRI done on Friday.

The good news for the Eagles is that Smith didn't suffer a more severe injury, such as an ACL tear. The worst is always feared when a player has to be carted off the field like Smith did.

The bad news for the Eagles is that Smith will likely miss some time as he recovers. It's currently unknown how long he'll be out for. Philadelphia is already thin at outside linebacker. Beyond Connor Barwin and Brandon Graham, who are starters, the team's current depth includes: Bryan Braman, Diaheem Watkins, Deontae Skinner, and Dasman McCullum. Inside linebacker Brad Jones has some experience on the outside and has practiced there at times. 3-4 defensive end Vinny Curry has also been getting some reps at outside linebacker but likely isn't a full-time player there.

Smith was showing signs of progress prior to suffering this hamstring injury. The team will hope to see him back on the field soon.
