Eagles sign Dasman McCullum, waive a player

The Eagles made another minor roster move.

The Philadelphia Eagles signed free agent linebacker Dasman McCullum on Tuesday morning, according to an official release from the team. In order to make room for McCullum on the 90-man roster, the Eagles waived/injured undrafted rookie free agent Jordan DeWalt-Ondijo. The Duke alumnus left the Eagles-Colts game early with an injury.

McCullum is a 23-year-old linebacker who measures in at 6-4, 242 pounds. He played college football for the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles. After going undrafted in the 2015 NFL Draft, McCullum didn't receive much interest as an undrafted free agent. He wound up getting a rookie minicamp tryout with the Washington Redskins, however, which led the team offering him a contract. McCullum was later released by Washington in early August.

McCullum is obviously a long shot to make Philadelphia's final roster, but the team needs some linebacker bodies after injuries to not only DeWalt-Ondijo but also Travis Long. McCullum himself has an extensive injury history; the linebacker has gone through three knee surgeries.
