Let's get to the links...
Chip Kelly, not injury, is the reason DeMarco Murray hasn't been practicing much - PhillyVoice
All along, Murray -- and the Eagles -- have insisted that he's healthy. So what's been keeping him from practicing? As it turns out, it isn't a what, but rather a who. "Me," Kelly said Friday when asked the reason behind Murray's limited practice reps. "He’s coming along," the coach added. "He’s done a lot of different things. Trying to get his acclimated. He also carried the ball more than anybody in the NFL last year. We’re just trying to integrate him into what we’re doing."
Tebowmania could descend upon Eagles on Sunday - Inquirer
You want uproar? We've seen uproar. But, relatively quiet though it has been, that might be about to change on Sunday when Tebow is expected to play roughly half of the opening exhibition game against the Indianapolis Colts. Projected starter Sam Bradford is being bubble-wrapped by Chip Kelly. Mark Sanchez will be in the game for only eight to 10 snaps. That leaves a great expanse of the game to be split between Tebow and Barkley.
Bradford Disappointed That He Didn’t Get Green Light - Birds 24/7
Sam Bradford made it clear that his preference was to play against the Colts. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, he noted how Jeff Fisher‘s decision to sit him in the preseason opener last year only increased the number of butterflies in his gut. "I think it’d just make me more anxious for the second game," said Bradford, speaking from experience. Chip Kelly, though, has decided that the best course of action is to hold off and have Bradford make his debut next week against Baltimore.
Mountain or a Mole Hill? - Iggles Blitz
Would playing on Sunday substantially help Bradford in any way? No. The starters are on the field for one, maybe two series. That’s it. They generally shake off the rust and then get off the field. The first preseason game is more about the third and fourth stringers than anyone. There is a huge X-factor…the offensive line. Allen Barbre will be at LG and Andrew Gardner (we think) at RG. The configuration of Peters-Barbre-Kelce-Gardner-Johnson has never started a game together, whether regular or preseason. Do you want the QB coming off a torn ACL out there behind this group as they take their first snaps together?
No reason for Eagles fans to panic over DeMarco Murray - NJ.com
In terms of strange Eagles training camp stories it ranks somewhere between Reggie White suing the team and Terrell Owens doing push-ups on his front lawn. Running back DeMarco Murray has stolen the spotlight from quarterback Sam Bradford's knee the past week by doing nothing.
LB Marcus Smith Knows What Is At Stake - PE.com
Marcus Smith walks off the practice field at the NovaCare Complex a different man now than the confused rookie who suffered through a lackluster 2014 season, his confidence eroded from a lack of NFL success. This Marcus Smith understands the big picture now ...
Rebuilt Eagles' secondary faces gauntlet in preseason action - CSN Philly
The feeling is the Eagles' secondary should be improved in 2015. Of course, the unit couldn't be much worse than last season when they owned the 31st-ranked pass defense in the NFL, and it doesn't get any worse than 32nd in 2013. The notion the Eagles are better is based on the addition and subtraction of talent this offseason. Out are Cary Williams, Bradley Fletcher, Brandon Boykin and Nate Allen. In are Byron Maxwell, Nolan Carroll, Eric Rowe and Walter Thurmond—their exact roles and configuration still undetermined. Better or worse? It's only a theory until the Eagles kick off their regular season slate on Sept. 14.
Evan Mathis hilariously steals show in Cody Parkey's Reddit AMA - The 700 Level
Whether the Philadelphia Eagles will miss Evan Mathis this season remains to be seen. Only time will tell if they have enough depth on the offensive line to protect Sam Bradford for an entire season without Mathis' presence. I think it's safe to say Eagles fans will miss him regardless of how the O-Line holds up. Mathis reminded us all of his entertaining ways yesterday when he popped into the Reddit AMA of Eagles place kicker Cody Parkey.
2015 is the last chance for some NFL players - SB Nation
The top two picks of the 2013 NFL Draft were sold as players who could step in immediately and be long-term stalwarts at left tackle. That hasn't been the case for either Eric Fisher or Luke Joeckel so far. While Fisher has 29 starts in two seasons for the Kansas City Chiefs, his play hasn't been up to the standard expected of a No. 1 pick and he understands that year three is going to be an important one. The Jacksonville Jaguars are also waiting for big things from Luke Joeckel, who missed 11 games as a rookie with a broken ankle. His return in 2014 was less than stellar. Both players can feel pretty comfortable about their starting spots, so the opportunity to step up will be given. That needs to happen though, or either player could be out of the lineup soon.
Former Eagles star Jon Runyan to join WIP - Philly.com
Sources say that former congressman and ex-Eagles legend Jon Runyan will join WIP as an on-air personality. His first spot will be on Friday morning as part of the WIP Morning Show with Angelo Cataldi.
